Special recognition was given to Pam Matthews, BSN, RN, CHCE during the Community Nursing Network’s Spring Conference, Building Bridges in the Community Through Nursing Leadership, on April 23, 2014 at Spirit Mountain in Grand Ronde OR. The conference was attended by over 50 nurses who work in community-based settings throughout Oregon and South West Washington.
The Community Nursing Award of Excellence was presented to Pam Matthews by Cynthia McDaniel , MSN, RN, board member of the Community Nursing Network. Pam was recognized for her hard work and dedication to promoting excellence in community nursing. Pam has positively influenced nursing policy through her work on many rules advisory committees. A founding board member, past president, and current board member of the Community Nursing Network, Pam has been steadfast in supporting the roles of nurses in the wide realm of community practice settings. Pam also is a board director for the Oregon Center for Nursing and has previously held a board position on the Oregon Association for Home Care. Through her current work as executive director for Willamette Valley Hospice, Pam stays in touch with concerns of nursing issues in the community setting and contributes timely and relevant education topics for the Community Nursing Network to present at conferences biannually.
The Community Nursing Network also honored long-time supporter BHS Pharmacy with an award for Outstanding Community Partner. Stephanie Landers from BHS accepted the award on the company’s behalf.
